Despite being in Round 3 (the 2 previous rounds had given us byes) our first experience of the County Cup took us to Bridgwater against a team we knew nothing about. Unfortunately, as the score line shows, it proved to be a bit of a mismatch as our opponents U14 had folded so we ended playing against their U13.

The first minute of the game saw Dean Lapham open the scoring followed by Oli Randall, Craig Andrews, James Hurrell Smith, Kyle Curtis, Brad Monelle and Mo Bouaziz. After 20 minutes we were 8 – 0 up! By half time it was 10-0, the clean sheet in tact thanks one good save by James Boulton standing in for the absent Craig Francis who was on holiday.

The second half continued one sided as chance after chance was created. The Wembdon keeper was actually playing very well, making some good saves, and we could have easily scored a lot more. In the end though we scored a further 5 goals. Even James Boulton almost scored coming up for a corner. His great strike though hit Craig Andrews on the back! The goals scorers were Craig Andrews (4), Brad Monelle (2), Mo Bouaziz (2), Kyle Curtis (2), Dean Lapham (2), Jason Oliver, Oli Randall, and James Hurrell Smith.

With such an easy win, Man of the Match was again very difficult as everyone stuck to their jobs and didn’t get carried away. This week it was awarded to full back Danny McCarthy who had a great game and has done so since his arrival earlier this season.
